Internship Opportunities

The Opterra Solutions Summer Internship program allows current and rising college students the opportunity to work with professionals in the Vegetation Management Services industry. Internships with service-based businesses provide exposure to concepts used in businesses of all sizes. This internship program is ideal for students pursuing careers in Business, Management, Agriculture/Agribusiness, and Environmental disciplines. It is good for degree programs relative to these disciplines and others that may lead to careers in business or management.

Intern With Us

Opterra Solutions is a privately-owned corporation headquartered in Lexington, South Carolina. We have branch locations in various states across the Southern and Atlantic US regions. Our program will cover the following learning objectives providing students with career preparation and exposure to new avenues within service business.

Learning Objectives: In this program, interns will learn about our industry, services, and processes.
  • Industry Exposure – The Vegetation Management industry partners with commercial and governmental entities through a variety of offered services. Students will learn about these core services and how they fit into the larger scale of business-to-business operations.
  • Business Development – Identifying, promoting, and securing customers including understanding how to effectively price services and managing a customer database.
  • Operational & Project Management – Students will spend time in the office and the field learning how contracts are staffed, scheduled, and managed. There will be training on front-end job-cost analysis, back-end profit/loss evaluation, and managing budgets as well as revenue streams.
  • Field Experience – Hands-on training in our core services utilizing our processes, methodology, equipment, and tools.

    Core Services Industrial Weed Control, Turfgrass Maintenance, Roadside Vegetation Management, Small-Routable Vegetation Management, Stormwater Maintenance & Repair, and ECO Services.

    Processes & Methodology Herbicide mixing and application processes, equipment and hand-tool utilization, and other related competencies.

Program Requirements

  • 18 years or older with valid driver's license and transportation
  • Application and pre-employment checklist requiring background and MVR check
  • Ability to work outdoors in various conditions with routine lifting of 50lbs
  • Ability to travel out of town for up to 5 days at a time, if necessary
